نعم يزداد طول الميت لسببان . السبب الاول فسره الفيزيائيين ان الانسان عندما يكون واقف يكون بذلك فى وضع راسى اى ان قوة الجاذبية الارضية موازية لجسمة وفى حالة النوم فى وضع الجسم افقى وعمودى على الجاذبية فيزداد الطول واحد او اثنين سم ويتمدد الجسم
التفسير الثانى وهو طبى وهو ان مفاصل الانسان تحتوى على غضاريف مطاطية حتى تمنع احتكاك العظام وعند الوقوف تنضغط كالاسفنج فيقل حجم الجسم ولكن عند الوفاه اى النوم افقيا ينعدم الضغط وياخذ الغضروف شكله الطبيعى ويزيد الطول
