The disbelievers rely on false hopes in Allah, claiming that resurrection, reward, and punishment are lies. They stubbornly refuse to believe in these until they see them with their own eyes. Allah warns them that on the Day of Judgment, it will be too late for faith to benefit them. Their disbelief will not be taken into consideration and they will face the consequences. The proof lies in the Quranic verse where Allah questions their sincerity and warns them that their faith will not save them on the Day of Judgment.
