معنى هذا المثل حلب واكلا شام ومياتا وحمص وبناتا هو مثل سوري يشير الى حنكة اهل حلب فى فنون الطعام وحسن صناعته بمذاقه اللذيذ وايضا شهرة دمشق بالمياه العذبة حيث نهر بردى الذي يتخلل شوارعها وأزقتها القديمة ويتحدث المثل ايضا عن حمص المشهورة بالبنات الجميلات
وهناك صيغة اخرى للمثل باللهجة الشامية وهى :
خود من حلب أكلاتا ومن الشام مياتا ومن حمص بناتا
